Why attend?

If you or your team have encountered the following issues due to incorrect (or lack of) colour management:

  1. Inconsistent colours between different devices and workstations
  2. Inability to match colours between capture device, monitor, I/O device, and final display or print
  3. Posterisation or colour banding during editing
  4. Details in highlights/shadows not visible even though it’s there

What you’ll learn

  • The foundations of colour management theory (CIE)
  • Display technology and standards for different outputs, from print to video
  • Digital imaging workflow
  • The hardware and software you’ll need for display calibration
  • Hands-on calibration and validation for Eizo monitors (when an Eizo monitor is present) or non-Eizo monitors
  • Spectral analysis and assessment of lighting and viewing conditions

What’s needed

  • Venue must have at least 1 workstation with a good monitor, ability to install additional colour management software, and Wi-Fi Internet connection
  • Each participant should bring along their own laptops (and calibration equipment if available)
  • Eizo demo monitors can be provided upon request, at an additional fee

Outcomes

With this training, you and your team will be able to:

  • Understand the various colourspaces you will encounter in a digital imaging workflow
  • Understand how colours are digitally translated across colourspaces, workspaces, and devices (e.g. rec709 vs bt.1886 vs bt.2020 vs sRGB vs adobeRGB vs ACES within Davinci Resolve working space)
  • Know the limitations of software and hardware colour capabilities (e.g. HDMI vs DP2, how backlight affects gamut, HDR…etc)
  • Calibrate and profile displays that is optimised for your work and workflow
  • Test and validate the colour accuracy of your display
  • Analyse and optimise working environment for colour critical work
